DAS ALTE RATHAUS VON BERLIN”
Archeological excavations for a new subway line uncovered lost parts of the Old Town Hall of Berlin. The findings were displayed in a special exhibition in Neues Museum on Museum Island, Berlin. We used “under the ground” as a narrative theme through the exhibition: The visitor enters by stepping into a typical Berlin subway train to go on a “ride” and discover the history of the Old Townhall of Berlin, exploring its trade and commerce, gamble and fight, justice and politics. A second room in the exhibition informed the visitor of the challenging work of modern archeologists.
